Home or Office Delivery F.A.Q.
Q: What a convenient option! How does it work?
A: Through partnerships with Metro Pedal Power (visit metropedalpower.com) and Short Stop Distribution (visit shortstopdistribution.com) we are now able to provide same-day home delivery service for all of our Farm Shares, including supplemental shares, throughout Metro Boston and Metro West (inside the Rt. 495 beltway). For addresses in Metro Boston we will distribute through Metro Pedal Power, and for addresses outside of their pedal-range we will distribute through Short Stop. When you purchase a Farm Share for home delivery, we will follow up with you by email to confirm your delivery address and to collect any detailed instructions for your delivery site (e.g., the best spot to place your Farm Share(s) upon delivery). We will then forward that information to the folks at Metro Pedal or Short Stop, who will follow up with you directly as needed to collect additional delivery details (e.g., you will see on Metro Pedal’s website that they are bonded to be given a key to leave your Farm Share inside your home if you so choose). The flat-rate delivery charge for all locations of $10 per week per Farm Share will be covered upfront when you purchase your Farm Share with us; Metro Pedal and Short Stop simply bill the farm for reimbursement of that cost.
Q. Is home delivery available at ANY location in Metro Boston and Metro West inside the Rt. 495 beltway?
A. Just about! Please note, however, that addresses on Cape Cod, North Shore, and far Southeastern MA are likely to either be outside of our couriers’ delivery range or require an additional charge. If you think your address may be on the edge of our Metro-Boston / Metro-West range, feel free to call the farm before registering for home delivery.
Q: Can I sign up for my Farm Share(s) for pickup at a pre-established location, and switch to the home delivery option at a future time?
A: Yes, but our website is not set up for adding home delivery independently of registering for a Farm Share. You can add the home delivery option over the phone with us at any point, though we recommend registering for it concurrently with your Farm Share purchase as the availability of home-delivered Farm Shares is limited.
Q: If I work but don't live in Metro Boston or Metro West, could I arrange for my Farm Share(s) to be delivered to my office instead of my home?
A: Yes! You would simply register for the home delivery option and just supply us with your work address and any relevant instructions for the delivery when we contact you after you sign up, including any timing limitations on the delivery to your office building.
Q: Now, I also see that you have a number of “custom office deliveries” listed for your Farm Shares; how are those different from individual office/home delivery arrangements?
A: We are able to deliver Farm Shares free of charge to groups of members at the same office building who contact us to make a special arrangement. We need a minimum of twenty CSA memberships per custom delivery location to waive the delivery fee for individual memberships – so if you think there may be a critical mass of interest in your office to arrange a custom office delivery, please call the farm to discuss this option.
Q: I would LOVE to sign up for home delivery of my Farm Share, but I live/work outside of your delivery range. Are there any other delivery options for me?
A: Expanding the delivery range of our Farm Shares is something we’re continuing to work on, so feel free to contact us in case we have any fresh leads!
Q: If I normally prefer to pick up my Farm Share at an established location (e.g., Sofra) but periodically want to have it delivered to my home or office, is that a possibility?
A: Likely, yes, as we want to make accessing our produce as convenient as possible for you! Just give the farm a call if this comes up and we’ll try our best to make it work.
Q: For deliveries that fall on national holidays (July 4th, Labor Day, etc.), will my Farm Share get delivered on a different day that week?
A: Likely, yes, and we'll alert you to any holiday changes ahead of time.
Q: If there are weather events (e.g., snowstorms during the Deep-Winter Share) that make delivery a challenge once in a while, will the delivery just get rescheduled to another day that week?
A: Indeed, and we’ll stay in tight communication to work around weather events, as appropriate for the safety of our drivers, bikers, members and farmers.
